All our aviaries are purpose built to suit the bird they will house. All our birds are kept in suspended flights except the 28's which are kept in large conventionals.
Cages for the small lorikeets are suspendeds that are 6 feet long, 3 feet high and about 2 feet wide but more accurately 1800 mm x 900 mm x 700mm.
Cages for the larger lorikeets are suspendeds that are 8 feet long, 4 feet high and 3 or 4 feet wide but more accurately 2400 mm x 1200 mm x 900/1200 mm.
The Scarlet Chested and Elegant parrots are kept in flights that are 1800mm long, 600 mm high and 600 mm wide.
The Princess parrots are housed in the same size aviaries as the large lorikeets whilst the Twenty Eight parrots are kept in conventional flights that measure 5 metres long, 2.4 metres high and 1.2 metres wide.
All the aviaries are built with inch x inch square steel tubing with 1/2 x 1/2 1.3 gauge wire. They are fully roofed with enclosed backs and half the sides. The fronts and half the sides on all the cages and the bottoms of the suspendeds are wire. The suspendeds have a rear access door and a cage front access through the front.
The conventional aviaries have only one access door through the front which is covered with a safety walkway. All the aviaries have the rear half of their roofs fitted with insulation with the forward half having wire under the roof so the birds can hang upside down which they love to do. Two perches are placed in each aviary with one at the front and one at the rear. The rear perch is always placed higher luring the birds to roost at the rear of the aviary.
Water bowls are hung off the front wire at perch level whilst food bowls are placed on the wire floor of the suspendeds at the rear. The food for the Twenty Eights is placed on a free standing platform which is positioned in the centre of each of the large conventionals.
